Originally, this work was a commission for a doctor's office.  The eastward facing adjacent wall from where the artwork was displayed had glass doors and a window on each side.  Wanting to complement the architecture and style of the windows, I completed the look I was intending by framing the triptych with narrow black wood.  Since the windows and doors faced east, sunrises filled the waiting room each morning.

Another concept I intended the artwork to have was a calming effect on the patients waiting to be seen by the doctor.   Often a mix of feelings can happen in a doctor's waiting room including anxiety, being worried, frustration, or fatigue.  Since patients would be waiting in that room, I desired to draw something upon which someone could gaze and hopefully relax.

The drawings have distinguishable, elongated, triangular forms to represent rays of light.  Then scattered throughout the compositions, undefinable lines and forms with quiet indistinct and clear colors - all occupied my mind as I worked.  The triptych filled the wall and complemented the space.

Even though the doctor was quite happy with MORNING LIGHT, she had to give it back to me.  She had fulfilled her dream of having her own office built.   But, the walls and windows would not accommodate this large of an artwork.
