Rain drops on my face is one of my favorite feelings. I crave it. Whenever it sprinkles, pours, dribbles - the occasion always requires me to run outside and lift my face up to receive the refreshment of rain. The heavenly wetness soaks into my face. In this often dry city, the anticipation rests on ready haunches inside me.
One late afternoon, the sun was at a angle as it prepared to set and a huge thunderstorm seemed to be building on the eastern horizon, slowly approaching. Going outside to check it out, I saw what looked like millions of prisms. Sun was eking out at the rim of the humongous cloud bank.
Rushing inside, I told my wheelchair bound mother that she absolutely had to experience this fantastic phenomenon of what appeared to be sunlight inside droplets of rain. Not one car was around. A quietness pervaded these moments. After quickly (carefully) wheeling her to the middle of the road in front of our house, she was able seeand feel this extraordinary atmospheric phenomenon. A golden glow was everywhere. Not only was this crazy golden light around us, every gentle droplet was still flooded with prisms. We were left speechless as we experienced what seemed to be like actually being in a rainbow. Sun drenched sparkly prisms of color bathed us in a slight mist. An extraordinary gift was given and received - together.
